Aloha! I am the Principal and the 6th, 7th and 8th grade homeroom teacher. This will be my second year here at HMA Windward. Come on in and say hi when you get the chance.

I am originally from Portland, Oregon and I moved from there to here. But along the way, I have had meaningful stops in South Korea and other parts of Oregon. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon, and I also have a Master of Education degree from the University of Oregon. I am currently finishing up an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Andrews University.

In the past I taught Math in the public school system in Oregon. Before that, I was a Principal/Teacher in Adventist schools in Oregon.

I love teaching the students here at HMA Windward and to being a part of this amazing community. God leads my life and I am so excited to share Him through my work, with all of you whom I come in contact with.

Aloha! I love being a part of the HMA Windward team, and I am excited to continue working with our students and families each year! I was born and raised in Iceland, then moved to America in 6th grade. I attended Southern Adventist University in Tennessee, where I received a BA in Psychology and Elementary Education. From there I moved back to Iceland to teach, then island-hopped across the world to Hawaii for a teaching position at HMA Windward in 2006! It was here that I met my husband. After several years in Kailua, I accepted a position in Indiana. Eight years and three kids later, God brought us back to Hawaii. We are thrilled to be able to raise our kids here and to be a part of this beautiful community.

I enjoy amusement parks, going to the beach, hanging out with friends and family, and I speak two languages: English and Icelandic.

My favorite Bible Verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”

I try to apply this to everything I face in life. I hope to help every student grow stronger in their relationship with Jesus, to get to know Him more!

Life is an adventure and it’s comforting to know God is at the wheel.
