EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

FOR ALL STUDENTS WHO REGISTER

Extracurricular activities provide students the opportunity to learn more about topics that interest them and to develop new skills. These activities compliment and enhance the school curriculum and help students become well-rounded individuals. Extracurricular activities teach students about responsibility and commitment and also give them the chance to practice teamwork and develop leadership skills.

At Hawaiian Mission Academy Windward Campus we offer extracurricular activities across a range of topics and disciplines including music, art, sports and cultural studies. Specific activities may include private music lessons, hula, basketball, soccer, volleyball, media class and reading club.

1

HULA CLASS

Through music and dance, hula celebrates and shares the stories, traditions and culture of Hawaii. As part of our 2nd Semester Hawaiian Studies Program, keiki and their families come together for a chance to learn hula relevant to Kailua and caring for our island home. Families can enjoy time time spent together, building friendships and learning about the amazing culture and beauty of our island home.

2

READING CLUB

Reading is a great way to exercise the brain and is a great way to acquire knowledge. Reading increases vocabulary, enhances memory, improves critical thinking skills and boosts concentration. And reading can be lots of fun! Our reading club meets after school and aims to help students get excited about reading and make it a habit that will help them to become lifelong learners.
