In January of 2015 we added a Hawaiian Studies Enrichment Program to our school curriculum under the guidance of Mele Kalama-Kingma.  Her communication skill and cultural expertise has resulted in our students gaining a better understanding of their “place” in the history of this land.  Fifty-three percent of our students and 33% of our staff have Hawaiian ancestry, so it was natural for us to pursue the cultural validation of Hawaii’s first nation.  We strongly believe that our program helps build community connectedness and creates synergy by authenticating a shared history through exercising cultural practices in an educational setting.  The story and experience of Aloha is an integral part of our curriculum that embraces conscientious
stewardship of the natural resources provided by our Creator.
